Welcome to East Haven C.E.R.T
Our
East Haven C.E.R.T was started in October 2004. In April 2005 we graduating 26 fully trained
C.E.R.T members. These volunteers were willing to help their country and
their community by volunteering to be trained in the following areas,
fire suppression, search and rescue, first aid,and triage. With the great
leadership of our program coordinator P.J. Norwood who's efforts and superior
instruction brought this program to completion. We are now ready to assist
both the fire department and police department in time of a natural disaster
or a terrorist attack.
About our Town and our Team
East Haven is located in South Central Connecticut with a population
of 30,000. East Haven is 12.5 square miles bordered by the City of New
Haven, the Towns of Branford, North Branford, North Haven and the Long
Island Sound. Within our district are many hazards including Interstate
95, Tweed New Haven Airport, railroad service both passenger and industrial,
A hazardous material tank farm storage facility, several industrial parks,
Long Island Sound and numerous elderly housing and assisted Living complexes.
The East Haven C.E.R.T members are very active in non-emergency functions
as well as within the emergency management structure. East Haven C.E.R.T
will have three levels of training for the members. A basic, intermediate,
and advanced level. The three level concept is very similar to LA - C.E.R.T.
Through a strong partnership with the fire department and the local chapter
of American Red Cross, citizens of East Haven are better prepared to handle
all emergencies and better educated on how to prepare in advance.
